Hong Kong Disney – A Taste of the World of Frozen

Hong Kong Disney – A Taste of the World of Frozen

Our trip to Asia so happened to coincide with the opening of Arendelle, the new World of Frozen land in Disney Hong Kong. Having grown up watching various disney movies and visiting many different parks around the world, I had yet to visit this location and it would also serve as the baby Joyce’s first Disney Park visit.

Park Location

The Disney Park is located on Lantau Island and is easily accessible via train(MTR), bus, car or taxi.

We stayed in Tsim Sha Tsui and the commute by taxi was roughly 20minutes and cost about $200 HKD

The Park

Unlike the other worldwide location, Disney Hong Kong consists of just one park and most visitors can complete majority of the park’s attractions within a single trip. For our family we prioritized viewing all the attractions and did not care to partake in any rides.

In addition to the newly opened Arendelle in the World of Frozen, the park features 7 other lands to explore:

  • Adventureland
  • Grizzly Gulch
  • Mystic Point
  • Toy Story Land
  • Fantasyland
  • Tomorrowland
  • Main Street, USA

We bought our tickets online at $719 HKD and saved a bit with the inclusion of a 3-in-1 meal voucher that includes Lunch, snack and dinner.

The Meal vouchers can be used at the various quick-serve restaurants.

Eligible Locations:

  • Starliner Diner (Tomorrowland)
  • Comet Cafe (Tomorrowland)
  • Clopin’s Festival of Foods (Fantasyland)
  • Tahitian Terrace (Adventureland)
  • Royal Banquet Hall (Fantasyland)
  • Golden Crocus Inn (World of Frozen)

*May be applicable to upgrade to the Explorer’s Semi-buffet and difference in price charged.

What’s included:

  • 1 Lunch combo meal with soft drink at HK$150 or below (redeem before 4pm)
  • 1 Dinner Combo Meal with soft drink at HK$150 or below (after 4:30pm and until 30min before restaurant closing)
  • 1 Snack choice of designated frozen lollipop or popcorn (valued at HK$45) at outdoor vending carts throughout the Park.

I would later come to realize that this park has many different cuisine to offer. As food-centric as Hong Kong is, Disney does not disappoint in delighting food lovers of various tastes.

The Eats

Of course we started the day visiting Arendelle to check out this beautiful new land. Being opening day, the park encouraged attendees to dress up as princes and princesses to commemorate the special day. Vicky made for a very pretty Elsa, Joyce is admittedly the cutest Anna ever and I am just drop dead sexy. You could say, I melt hearts

We would be having our first meal here in Arendelle at the Golden Crocus Inn. It is a quick service restaurant a western style of cuisine with vegetarian options.

A stantioned queue leads into the restaurant with a wood interior with various Frozen portraits adorning the walls. Two queues are available to order from. Cast members are available to help with any questions and provide a menu for your information. There is seating both inside the restaurant and across in a separate patio.

The menus are beautifully presented and you can the meals are showcased the way that they are served.

After paying for your meal, there is a hot water station available. I found in Hong Kong that locals frequently bring tumblers and fill up with hot water.

We opted to share the Bayside Seafood Medley and a kids version of the Forest Mushroom Pasta and Meatballs Platter. I found the salmon to be incredibly well cooked, flaky and soft, quite a feat considering the scale and volume of this meal being served. The mussels and shrimp were just as well cooked and tasty! The included dessert was a

It also came with this little sesame honeycomb cracker shaped as a snowflake.

After eating, the crowds had subsided slightly from the buzz of the new land’s opening. We explored around.

There are 2 rides available in this land

We didn’t go on either ride due to having an infant with us and also the wait times were holding steady at 90minutes throughout the day. Granted this is not that long compared to most other parks worldwide especially considering it is opening day. That is the beauty of this park that wait times in general are shorter.

There were also some snack foods available and frozen theme treats available.

  • Coronation Sundae- soft serve atop a bed of elderflower flavored slush
  • Summer Snow Day Soft Serve – soft serve cone in the shape and decor of Olaf the snowman

We would come back during the evening hoping that the crowds would be less (it wasn’t) and for a different view of the town of Arendelle.

Conclusion

We spent a full day at Disneyland Hong Kong coinciding with the opening of the new World of Frozen Land centered around the city of Arendelle. We showed up in cosplay, we ate various foods this new land had to offer and we had a great fun time visiting for the first time and bringing baby Joyce to her first Disney experience.
